CATEGORIC SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES NOKIA VENTURES AS LEAD INVESTOR, WITH CO-INVESTMENT FROM DEUTSCHE TELEKOM'S T-VENTURE AND BANCBOSTON CAPITAL

London, UK - 7th June 2000 - Categoric Software Corp. a leading supplier of e-business alerting infrastructure technology to wireless and wireline devices, today announced the closure of its 3rd round of financing led by Nokia Ventures with co-investment by T-Venture and BancBoston Capital. This US$13.8million funding comes at the end of a successful year for Categoric, having already established alliances with leading mobile players such as Telia Mobile and Logica.

"Event detection and mobile alert messaging is one of the core technologies in the future Mobile Information Society. Categoric is well ahead of the competition, setting the pace in this important and exciting part of the wireless business," said Martti Malka, partner at Nokia Ventures' London office. "Categoric has great enabling technology and we're very excited to start working with them to pursue the market potential. We are sure that including Categoric in our investment portfolio will add considerable value both to Categoric and to our existing portfolio companies."

Thorgeir Einarsson, CEO and co-founder of Categoric said: "This round of financing will enable Categoric to boost its sales and marketing organisation, extend its partner programmes and develop its leading technology. We're delighted that Nokia Ventures, T-Venture and BancBoston Capital have chosen to invest in Categoric and feel that these partnerships will be very fruitful. Nokia Ventures is a key player in the rapidly evolving wireless market and understands the importance of the technology that Categoric delivers. Combine this with the expertise and backing of T-Venture and BancBoston Capital and we are very excited about the future."
Categoric provides a personalised alert messaging platform that e-businesses need in order to deliver time-critical information to customers and an increasingly mobile workforce. As more and more data is generated in today's e-business environments, it is becoming vital that organisations are able to deliver personalised information to their customers, staff and partners in real-time, wherever they may be, enabling them to take immediate action. Categoric's technology achieves this by alerting people to critical information via SMS, WAP, pagers, e-mail and other industry standard channels. This 3rd round of financing forms a significant part of Categoric's strategy to deliver an extended technology platform for mobile e-business.

T-Venture, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, establishes synergies between IT and Telecom companies in order to promote further development. "Categoric's software is very sophisticated in bringing reliable and real-time information to businesses and T-Venture recognises Categoric's leadership in this area," said Dr. Felix Wunderer, Investment Director at T-Venture. "Businesses must become more event-driven if they are to be market leaders, both now and in the future. Categoric's technology will be vital in allowing companies to manage by exception and to become event and wireless enabled. Categoric has a very dynamic and competent management team and we're delighted to be part of the company's continuing success."

"The mobile phone is rapidly becoming the primary Internet access device. BancBoston Capital's investment in Categoric is consistent with our strategy of investing in new generation technology companies with a global reach," said John Bohill, Co-Head of European technology, BancBoston Capital. "It is very exciting for us to invest in a company with a clear understanding of the market, a great vision and excellent growth potential."
